Q30: The AFL Queensland Vision for Facilities

AFL Queensland has developed a state facility plan to prioritise the development of facilities that will drive participation growth, inclusion and innovation, and inspire the next generation of players, coaches, umpires, officials and fans. 

AFLQ Grand Final Facilities Fund

The AFL Queensland Grand Final Facilities Fund provides funding to assist local governments, grassroots community Australian football clubs, umpiring organisations and schools to develop AFL facilities across Queensland.  

The $8 million partnership between the Queensland Government and the Australian Football League (AFL) is part of the legacy of hosting the historic 2020 AFL Grand Final at the Gabba. 

AFL Queensland Sports Turf Unit

AFL Queensland’s Sports Turf Unit (STU) has been keeping playing fields across South East Queensland competition ready for more than a decade. 

With experience across the sporting sector including AFL, golf, football and lawn bowls, STU provides leading edge high-quality technical expertise to clubs, local government authorities and sporting organisations. 

Projects include new oval construction, turf management, irrigation services, drainage installation, oval remediation, water harvesting and goal post installation.
